I'm BACK!

Several years have past since I've posted on this blog, but I have made a promise to myself. From now on I will stay true to this blog, and to my few but true followers in 2013!

To catch you up...... 2011 was a stressful yet blessed year. Right at the end of summer we found out that I was pregnant, and were completely overjoyed! We later found out that several cousins were also expecting bringing the family four new additions, some only days apart and ....ALL BOYS! Which meant lots of baby-showers followed by birth announcements, christenings, and a year later 2012 brought us lots of first birthdays! Keeping us all very busy.

So I have lots of ideas and crafts that I have been keeping away from you all and I am now very eager to share in 2013.

Where does the time go?

I have recently returned to work setting up for the new school year, which has made it a bit difficult to keep up with this blog. I have also been busy putting things together for the up coming baby shower, and also taking care of home life, wondering where does the time go? I barely have enough time to do anything to my hair let alone blog. Now I'm wondering why did I add this to my life and why am I so concerned  with being consistent, is anyone but my little brother following? Well in case anyone is interested here are some pics of the completed diaper cake I've been working on.

Showered With Ideas

My cousin Alesia's baby shower is scheduled for September 25th, which gives me exactly 41 days to work on all the creative aspects of the party. I am super excited to be working on this party because it is unlike all the other showers I have done, it's Dr. Seuss! As a reading teacher I hold a special place in my heart for the author and the his characters.  I have several decorating ideas in mind including traditional things such as a diaper cake adorned with nothing but character apparel and of course a cake, but the cake happens to be the scariest part of all the planning!!! Ahhhh! I love baking and I have made some pretty delicious cakes but usually on days when I am bored and no pressure is put on me as to what the finally product looks or taste like. Let along have it as the main dessert of a party. The cake I will be duplicating is the one pictured below with a couple of changes, in other words I will be making my version of this cake.

So for the next couple of weeks I will be testing several different recipes and working on duplicating this amazing  Dr. Seuss cake that I have promised Alesia. I know I am just a paranoid perfectionist because if my cakes weren't tasty and amazing Alesia would not want to serve them to her guests. I will keep this blog posted with my cake and decoration updates and all my paranoias.

Welcome!

Hello, and welcome to Simplistic Perfection. I have decided to start this blog so that I can share with everyone my creative ideas, and insights. This blog has been in the back of my mind for some time now. Until today I didn't think I was creative enough to have a successful blog that people will follow, but "What would life be if we had no courage to attempt anything"- Vincent van Gogh.

I love creating personalized and meaningful decorations, centerpieces, and invitations for parties, although I am a teacher by trade, and enjoy every minute of impacting children's lives. Throwing a memorable party that is talked about for years is my THING!

My most recent party was my mother-in-laws 50th surprise birthday party, which judging from her reaction when she walked through the door, ( tears of joy) was a success. It included framed collage photos of her life as centerpieces, photo-guest sign-in book, and my favorite a vintage candy bar! To see grandmothers fight for chick-o-sticks and bazooka joes was absolutely worth it! I will soon post some photos of this party and others. I will also keep you posted on my upcoming events,  my cousin Alesia's Dr.Seuss baby shower, and the holidays.
